Say Hello To Local NCSU Alum Terri Hefner

Year Graduated and Degree : 1990 B.S. in Mathematics with minor in Math Education
Occupation: Project Management, Director World Access Service
Corporation
Best memory as a student:
There are so many! I cannot choose just one. Hanging out for lunch at
the many stops on Hillsborough Street; studying with friends in the
stacks; Wolfstock; dressing up for Halloween and visiting a children's
ward in a local hospital; tutoring Chucky Brown and Chris Corchiani;
competing on the NC State swim team; walking to class through the
Expression Tunnel; camping out for basketball tickets; walking through
the tree lit campus at Christmas; studying in Pullen Park; and being
with my friends.
Best memory from an athletic event:
The 1986 football game against South Carolina when Erik Kramer threw a
"hail Mary" pass to Danny Peebles who scored the touchdown after time
had expired on the clock to capture a 23-22 victory over the Gamecocks.
The stadium was rocking! We had been on our feet throughout the game
stomping on the bleacher seats and making as much noise as possible. It
was an incredibly elated feeling. The win was so dramatic and
unexpected. It made me fall in love with Erik Kramer and the NC State
football program that very day.
Something you learned at NCSU that you use on an everyday basis:
In my job I rely on my ability to clearly and logically structure
complex ideas and tasks to be able to predict the future and minimize
risks. My courses in logic, statistics, mathematical theory, and all the
science labs prepared me well for a career that enables me to problem
solve and have fun doing it!
What do you miss most about Raleigh:
Besides the pig-pickins, I miss the feeling of being around a city with
and near so many academic institutions. Raleigh has an air of being
young, vibrant and fresh. Its people are some of the friendliest and
down to earth you will ever meet. And I miss not being able to be at all
the athletic events.
What do you like most about Richmond:
It is an ideal place to live. It is close to the mountains and to the
beach; there is relatively no traffic; great hole-in-the-wall
restaurants and it is close to family.
Thanks Terri and GO PACK!!!
