It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Bobby Speight Sr. this past Thursday, March 1, after a long fight with cancer.  Bobby Sr. played basketball under the legendary Everett Case and graduated in 1953.  During his Wolfpack career he scored 1,430 points and grabbed 1,057 rebounds from 1950-1953.  He still ranks 4th in rebounding totals at NCSU.  His jersey No. 80 hangs proudly at the RBC Center and he was the 2007 Ronnie Shavlik Award of Merit winner.  Bobby co-founded E&S Contract Carrier and was well respected in the trucking industry.  Bobby's son Bobby Speight Jr. also attended NCSU and the entire Speight family have been active in NCSU events here in Richmond.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bobby Speight Jr. and the entire Speight family.  Bobby Sr's constant laugh will be missed at future gatherings here in Richmond.

Re the Bobby Speight article: It would be nice to include that he was STATE's first "hometown" star.
