Say Hello To Local NCSU Alumni Mike Hart

Year graduated and degree : 1992 B.S. in Horticultural Science and Landscape Horticulture

Occupation : Landscape Contractor.  Owner, Homescapes, LTD.  Est. 1995

Best memory as a student : Walking around campus and enjoying the atmosphere at State.  In horticulture some of our classes consisted of examining the plant life on campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.  It really made me look at the design and use of plants in the landscape in those various areas.  I just enjoyed the opportunity to be an N.C. State student and being able to meet great professors and make some good friends.

Best memory from an athletic event : Camping out for basketball tickets for the State/Carolina game in January of 1991 and getting front row seats at half court.  State won the game by 10.  Both teams were ranked and it was a great game in Reynolds Coliseum.

Something you learned at NCSU that you use on an everyday basis : It is important to communicate well with others.  In many classes and design studios we were assigned to work as a group on a particular project.  I learned that it was essential to identify each others strong points and work as a team to meet the deadline.  That has translated to the business world by utilizing the talents of an employee and putting them in a position to excel.

What do you miss most about Raleigh : Friends, professors, and being able to attend the athletic events regularly.

What do you like most about Richmond :  I am from Richmond and most of my family is here.
